Dear Dad

It’s been awhile…I am back in town and it feels strange to be seeing all these places again without you. Our old house, the beach. Remember racing down the narrow country lanes in our yellow sports car and mailing postcards to Nan? The football ground still looks the same. It was the only time I felt safe and not alone. No one could get to me. A carefree and happy time. Usually a long wait and an ardous journey for an atypical kid like me to get here, but so worth it. Catching crabs and getting taught how not to drown in the freezing sea. The penny arcade. An ice cream float at the Wimpy Bar. Learning all about the war and Granddad and seeing you happy with your mates made me feel at home. And it still does.

Die Kindheit geprägt von Angst und Gewalt. Eine Spurensuche in der Vergangenheit, welche die Ursachen und Umstände eines Lebens zu ergründen versucht, das ständig zwischen Depression und Zufriedenheit hin und her schwankt.
